As you can tell, I’m not your typical physician. A while back I decided to walk away from my full-time Medicine practice to search for a deeper life meaning. I wanted to find a way to help others in a different way.
I tried many ways to reach other people and help them, but for one reason or another my path would bring me back to the personal improvement and self-help fields. In my path to self-discovery, I also realized that one of my passions is to help women who are struggling with weight loss.
I knew I had a calling to help people in other ways, and that calling was bigger than making the money as a doctor.

What You Need To Know
1. Losing weight and keeping it off takes work and effort, but is very possible!
Many people on the internet will try to fool you by telling you that you can lose 20 pounds in 30 days.
I’m here to tell you that this isn’t true.
Now this I’m going to say, I find it easier to lose the weight slowly and in a healthy manner than to try to get it off fast. Yes, you can lose some initial weight fast, but that will mostly be from water loss, not from fat loss.
When you start to work on losing your fat, you’ll have to adopt a different mentality, put in the work and effort and change your “I’m fat” way of thinking. But once you put in the work and the effort, things will start falling into place and your life will change for the better, and that will happen almost automatically for you.
2. You won’t get thin overnight!
You also need to be aware of something… you’re not going to get thin overnight.
If you’re the type of person looking to get thin overnight, I won’t be able to help you.
The women that I can help with losing weight are those that are willing to put in the work and follow what I teach them.
If you put in the work, you can lose the weight and look fantastic a lot faster than you think, but it won’t be overnight. But believe me, we are not talking about tons of work here either.
I’ve made this weight loss process very simple because that’s how it works. It doesn’t have to be that complicated or difficult like the weight loss industry wants you to think.
I’ve spent a lot of time creating videos and execution plans for you to help you avoid the mistakes I made. But at the end of the day it just comes down to YOU doing the work and taking consistent action.
If you are not afraid of working at it and you follow what I teach you, you will do very well in re-creating your new body. And trust me, it’s not that difficult, and it is definitively worth it! The only regret you’ll have is that you didn’t start working on losing the weight and getting fit sooner.
So, now that we got that clear we need to talk about the most important part of losing weight and that’s to have the right mental attitude and the disposition.
If you want to lose weight, if you want to get fit, if you want to be able to wear those tight jeans again, you have to start thinking that you will be able to do it. If you start with an “I don’t know if I can do this” mentality, you will already lose.
Think Positive, Think “Yes I Can.”
So now you know you need to have the right mentality.
Some people will tell me, “but Dr. Mayra, I just can’t seem to lose the weight, even if I try hard”.
My answer is of course you can, but you have to want it!
Because when you want it, you will make it happen. When you are so sick and tired of looking at yourself in the mirror and not recognizing who you are any longer, you will make it happen. When you start having health problems, like diabetes, high blood pressure, knee pain, and can’t even go one flight of stairs without having to stop every few steps to take a break, you are going to want it.
Allow me to suggest a few things I want you to ask yourself:
1. Who has full control of what you put in your mouth?
You are the only person responsible of what you eat, no one else is. Yes, you can say, your co-workers made you eat something. Or you can say, your husband brought some sweets home, and you couldn’t just resist the temptation, but at the end of the day it was you who decided to go for it and eat it. Right?
2. How can you eat healthier and exercise when you don’t have the time?
This is one of the biggest obstacles that most women that I talk with, confront. Let me tell you something. When I started to lose weight I was a very busy physician, and I didn’t have help from anybody. I was taking care of my life, my home, and my career all by myself.
Yes, there were times in which I wasn’t able to exercise. And, there were many times in which I could not eat as healthy as I wanted, but I realized that that was part of how life goes, I accepted it and kept working toward my goal. Losing weight is not a straight line, you will have your ups and downs.
I’m going to let you on a little secret. It doesn’t take 100% effort to lose weight. You can put 80% effort and loosen up the other 20%, and you will be able to do it. That’s how I did it, and I can guide you on the right steps to make it happen for you too.
If you follow my steps you will be like a Michael Angelo piece of art, the beauty hiding underneath that fat will come out, and you will be amazed!
The picture below shows me on the left at my biggest weight of 192 pounds in 2010, and on the right how I look after I lost the weight. I no longer have to hide my body under ugly clothes, and I’m able to wear a bikini and show it! 🙂
